How the Game Works

It's Your Turn, Then Theirs

This is a single-player game. You move your 4 heroes and use their actions. Then, the enemies take their turn.

Action Points (Pips)

Each hero has Action Points (like 4 points to start). Moving and using skills costs these points. Plan carefully!

Hero Stats

Each hero is good at different things:

  • Strength (Swords): Good for hitting things and tough tasks.
  • Finesse (Shoes): Good for moving fast and sneaky tasks.
  • Intelligence (Brain): Good for smart tasks and some magic.
  • Charm (Heart): Good for talking and convincing people.

Each stat has 1-3 stars. More stars mean better chance to succeed.

Skills

Heroes have cards for attacks or help:

  • Close Attacks: Need to stand right next to the enemy.
  • Ranged Attacks: Can hit enemies a few spaces away.
  • Area Attacks: Hit multiple enemies nearby.
  • Support Skills: Heal yourself, give shields, or help friends.

Health & Shields

Heroes have health (hearts). You can also add shields (blue bars) to block damage. Shields break first.

Look Closer

You can pick up heroes or enemies and place them on the side panels to see their stats and skills clearly.

Starting Tips (First Story Parts)

First Fight (Ship Mutiny)

  • If you can, hit multiple enemies at once with an area attack (like Noona's "Dark Curse").
  • Strong heroes (like Hammer) need to get close to hit. Heroes with ranged attacks should stay 3 spaces back.
  • Low on health? Use a skill to heal or add a shield ("Shrug it Off").
Try to position your ranged heroes safely behind cover where enemies can't easily reach them.

Storm Events

The ship hits a storm. You need to choose which hero tries each task. Pick the hero with the most stars in the needed skill!

  • Example: Need Strength? Use Hammer (3 stars). The game rolls dice - more stars give a better chance to pass.

Tough Choice

To save the ship, you must let one hero fall overboard. Choose the one you need least for fighting later (like maybe Thomas, if you need more fighters).

Port Mission (Shadeport)

  • Cover: Move crates to hide from a sniper. Push them forward carefully.
  • Kill the Sniper: Send a sneaky hero (good Finesse, 3 stars) around the side to climb up and push the sniper off.
  • Talk to Packer: After the fight, you need to convince Packer to help. Use your charming hero (Charm stat). You need to roll 7 stars total across several tries. Keep talking if you fail at first!

Making Your Heroes Stronger (Level Up)

After story parts, your heroes can learn a new skill. Choose wisely:

  • Horizon: Good at close fights. Should choose a ranged skill ("Hidden Dagger") to hit distant enemies.
  • Hammer: Very strong. Good to choose a skill that breaks shields ("Shattering Blow").
  • Noona: Good with magic. A fun choice is "Summon Shadow Creatures" to help in fights.

Heroes also find useful items (like gold or gems) during the story.

When choosing new skills, consider filling gaps in your team's abilities or doubling down on what a hero already does well.

Is This Game For You?

Good Stuff

  • Fun story told by a bird character
  • Choices change what happens next
  • Building your heroes is enjoyable
  • The game board looks nice

Things to Know

  • The character models look okay (not amazing), the bird looks great.
  • It's only single-player (no friends can join).
  • Graphics are decent but not super detailed.

Play Again? Yes! Different choices lead to different paths and endings. You can also try harder difficulty levels.

Who Will Like It: If you enjoy turn-based fights (like moving figures on a board), stories where your choices matter, and building up characters, you'll probably like this.

Simple Rule: Get close to attack with strong heroes. Stay back with ranged heroes. Use cover. Pick new skills that fix your heroes' weak points or add new options.
