How to Install Third-Party Apps on Meta Quest 2/3 (No Developer Mode Needed)
What You Need
Meta Quest 2 or Quest 3 (tested on system v55+)
Built-in Quest browser
A file manager app like Z Archiver (installed using this method).
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Allow File Access
Open Settings on your headset.
Go to Configuration Wizard > Show Options > Configure Scoke Storage.
Select Step 1: Request Access to enable storage permissions.
2. Download APK Files
Open the Quest browser.
Visit a trusted APK download site (e.g., SideQuest’s official site).
Find the app you want to install (e.g., Z Archiver).
Do not click the download link directly. Instead:
Press and hold the download link.
Tap the four-dot arrow icon (↗️) in the pop-up menu.
3. Bypass Security Warnings
A warning message will appear:
“Your phone and personal data may be exposed to risks...”
Check “I understand the risks.”
Click Continue.
4. Install the App
After downloading, the installation screen will open automatically.
Tap Install and wait for the process to finish.
5. Open the App
Go to your app library.
Select Unknown Sources (visible even without developer mode).
Find the installed app (e.g., Z Archiver) and launch it.
Important Tips
Use the Four-Dot Arrow Trick
This bypasses the default download block and starts the install process.
Manage Files
