Meta City Patrol Gameplay Guide - A Simple Review for Meta Quest 3

The First Impression

This is an indie VR game for the Meta Quest 3. The graphics are surprisingly good for a Quest game. It looks like a mix of Blade Runner and Cyberpunk, with a flying car that glows when you speed up. The game loads very fast with no black loading screens.

How to Play

Driving the Car

The driving controls are easy to learn:

  • Left Stick: Move left/right and up/down (altitude).
  • Right Stick: Turn the car.
  • Right Trigger: Go forward.
  • Left Trigger: Go backward.
  • Auto-Stabilize: If you let go of the sticks, the car will stop moving by itself.

Tips: If you feel sick, go to the settings and turn on "Smooth Turning" and turn off "Vignette".

The Main Loop

The game is simple:

  1. Get a Mission: Listen to the radio in your car.
  2. Go to the Spot: Fly to the location (marked on your map).
  3. Do the Job: This can be shooting bad guys, collecting evidence bags, or chasing thieves.
  4. Return to Base: You must fly back to the Police HQ to get paid and upgrade your rank.

Money and Upgrades

Making Money

You get paid credits for finishing missions. At first, the pay is low (around 50 credits), but it gets better when you rank up.

Buying Stuff

You can buy upgrades for your car.

  • Best Buy: The Glass Floor. It lets you see the city through the bottom of your car. It costs 1000 credits, but it looks amazing.

Ranking Up

When you rank up, your mission pay increases.

Exploring the City

You can do fun things when you are not working:

  • Buy Things: You can buy a drink with ice cubes that move, or buy bobblehead dolls.
  • Play Games: There is an arcade machine in the city. You can play old-style games like Block Smash (Tetris), Frogger, and Protector.
  • Look at the View: The city has nice lights and sounds. You can fly around Las Vegas Sphere and shopping centers.

The Bad Parts

While the game looks great, it has some problems:

  • Shooting: The gunplay feels "ropey" (sloppy) and not very satisfying.
  • AI: The bad guys and civilians do not act very smart yet.
  • HUD: The icons on the screen can be hard to see sometimes.

Final Thought: If you like driving and looking at cool graphics, this game is great. If you want perfect shooting, you might be disappointed. It is a fun early-access game that looks much better than expected.
